Description
One hundred and fifty years after John Cable built his mill in Cades Cove, people still come to watch it in action. This is an example of an overshot mill where water cascades over the top of the mill wheel and is more efficient than the design where water runs under the wheel. Over the past few years, the National Park Service has replaced the wheel with a new one and has made a number of maintenance improvements to the structure.
Doug and Marcy Wielfaert are a husband and wife team located in Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains. Our home range certainly colors our portfolio, but we love traveling across the country and around the globe to capture scenes like this one. We would be honored if you would “like”, “favorite” or comment on this image, doing so helps increase our search engine rankings.
