Late January is a quiet time in the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and occasional snowfall adds a melancholy feel to this idyllic area. I have heard people refer to this scene as "The Tree. It is a favorite view. Perhaps, something about the lone tree set in the expansive pasture and against the ever-changing mountains proves to be compelling.

Doug and Marcy Wielfaert are a husband and wife team located in Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains.
