Description
Established in 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park preserves a small but important section of the vast Rocky Mountain Range. We visited in mid-January hoping to capture some of the beautiful winter scenery of the Rocky Mountain Western United States, We weren't disappointed, but we had to venture out before sunup on to take advantage of the beautiful light. Our base of operations was in Estes Park, Colorado and from there we were able to access the eastern areas of the park. The alpine drive along U.S. Highway 34 toward Grand Lake is closed in winter. The roads we snow-covered and icy, but nevertheless easy to navigate with the 4WD vehicle we used.
Doug and Marcy Wielfaert are a husband and wife team located in Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains. Our home range certainly colors our portfolio, but we love traveling across the country and around the globe to capture scenes like this one. We would be honored if you would “like”, “favorite” or comment on this image, doing so helps increase our search engine rankings.
