Description
Spotting a screech owl like this one is normally a difficult task, but we noticed a group of fellow photographers with their long lenses pointed upward and figured we should see what the commotion was all about. Even with a good bit of pointing, it was difficult to spot this little guy, who was cozed up in the hollow of a tree along a favorite roadside in the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From time-to-time, he would disappear deep inside his respite, only to emerge a bit later with this seemingly disgusted look on his face. We enjoyed visiting with him or her for a good while. We heard from our photographer friends that this little guy roosted in this tree for a number of days and then was gone. Maybe we'll spot another one in this same place next season.
Doug and Marcy Wielfaert are a husband and wife team located in Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains. Our home range certainly colors our portfolio, but we love traveling across the country and around the globe to capture scenes like this one. We would be honored if you would “like”, “favorite” or comment on this image, doing so helps increase our search engine rankings.
