Don't know that I've ever seen a pic of one of these beauties before. Great find and shot, and Congrats on your Wowie!
Douglas Wielfaert replied:
I discovered this is also called a Korhaan. It was a difficult capture from the back of a safari vehicle.

Douglas! Fabulous photography, great composition and perspective. What a great place. I would be beside myself with excitement. Congratulations for the "WEEKLY WOWIE," well deserved! LF Janet💕

I must confess when wife (Marcy, also a FAA photographer) wanted to go to Africa, I was reluctant, but we had a glorious time. Absolutely loved Botswana.

Douglas, you won a WOWIE! This awesome image has been chosen as one of the William's Wows found in the discussions tab of the group, Wild Birds Of The World.

Fascinating bird! Great shot! Thank you for submitting this fine shot and correctly named bird to Wild Birds Of The World - A Nature Photography Group, where it is now featured on the home page. L/F
Douglas Wielfaert replied:
Thanks, William. I spent a long time trying to correctly identify this bird. Many on the Web have confused this with the kori bustard, but the kori has a stripe down the front of its neck and the head features are different.
